Crime Prevention Office (CPO)
The Crime Prevention Office (CPO) is an initiative of the District of Mission and the Mission RCMP and is designed to bring the police and citizens of Mission in closer contact. providing information on crime and safety related services and programs to the general public including problem solving (where no police required), provide educational and resource material for schools/preschools, youth practicum program and University practicum programs and is the base operation for BEAT Patrol, Block Watch, Speed Watch and Citizens on Patrol.
Community Safety and Enforcement Team
The Mission RCMP Community Safety and Enforcement Team strives to maintain the Strategic Priority of Safe Homes, Safe Communities. We are involved with a variety of crime prevention initiatives that complement crime reduction strategies. The Community Safety and Enforcement Team is committed to reducing Crime and making the District of Mission a Safer place to live in.
General Duty Section
Our front-line emergency response police service operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and involves all aspects of preventative and investigative police work. The General Duty Officers are the first responders to all calls for service to the community and work on a 4 Watch System with a total of 28 General Duty members.
General Investigation Unit
The Mission RCMP General Investigation Section is responsible for investigations of a serious nature and are likely to require further time and expertise to investigate. Examples of long term investigations may include Attempt Murder, Financial Institution Armed Robberies, Serious Assaults causing Bodily Injury, Home Invasions, Sexual Assaults, Missing Persons where foul play cannot be ruled out, and multi-jurisdictional economic crimes.
Prolific Offender Suppression Team
The Mission Prolific Offender Suppression Team works to identify, target and investigate chronic or prolific property offenders who are actively committing crime in the community.
Street Crime Unit
The Mission RCMP Street Crime Unit works to identify, target, investigate, disrupt, and dismantle the local street, grow-op, drug trafficking and organized crime operations operating within and/or having a negative impact on the District of Mission.
Traffic Services
Traffic Services at Mission RCMP Detachment is committed to facilitating community safety to realize the Minister of Transportation's Road Safety Vision 2010 aimed at reducing deaths and serious injuries on our roadways. The four main goals are to raise public awareness of road safety issues, improve communication, cooperation and collaboration among road safety agencies, toughen enforcement measures and improve national road safety data collection and quality.
Victim Services
Mission Victim Services provides crisis intervention response to the scene 24/7 as well as telephone and in-person follow up. We offer drop in and appointment access at the detachment and accompany victims to court and other key appointments relating to the file. In accordance with the BC Victims of Crime Act. Mission Victim Services helps victims and their families cope with the effects of crime/trauma.
Records Department
The Mission RCMP Detachment Records department uses the Police Records Information Management Environment (PRIME-BC) which connects every municipal police department and RCMP detachment throughout the province and provides access to information about criminals and crimes instantly to all police agencies.
Specialized Integrated Services
Police Dog Services
Our Police Dog Service officer provides assistance to all other members in their investigation s where searches for property, persons or contraband are required. This also includes search and rescue missions for lost/missing people. Based in Chilliwack, our dog officer is a part of a team of specialists who serve Mission and the Upper Fraser Valley.
Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT)
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is responsible for homicide investigations, police involved shootings and in-custody deaths within the RCMP's Lower Mainland District. IHIT also serves four independent municipal police departments within this geographic area - Abbotsford, New Westminster, Port Moody and West Vancouver, making the unit one which is truly integrated. The unit operates as the homicide unit for each partner agency rather than an independent body.
