File # 2022-1529

Charges have now been laid in relation to the murder of a 57-year old woman from Coquitlam who was initially reported missing to the Coquitlam RCMP.

Background:

On November 27, 2022, 57-year old Jodine Millar was reported missing from her residence in Coquitlam, BC. Based on evidence suggesting her disappearance was a result of foul play, on December 2, 2022, IHIT took conduct of the missing persons investigation.

Following almost a year long investigation, IHIT investigators determined that Jodine Millar was murdered. On October 12, 2023, 30-year old Carson Mackay, was arrested in Calgary, Alberta, in relation to her murder.

On October 13, 2023, Mackay was charged with the second-degree murder of Jodine Millar.

Since it’s deployment, IHIT has continued to work closely in partnership with the BC Coroner Service, Coquitlam RCMP and the RCMP Integrated Forensic Identification Section (IFIS) to advance the investigation.

IHIT would like to thank its partners at the Coquitlam RCMP, the Airdrie RCMP and the Calgary Police Service for their dedication and ongoing support.

"Our investigators worked diligently in their search to locate Jodine Millar. We would like to thank IHIT for their assistance when this missing person investigation turned into a homicide investigation," said Officer in charge of Coquitlam RCMP, Superintendent Keith Bramhill. "We hope these charges provide some answers to Jodine's friends and family."
