Early morning shooting in Richmond results in IHIT deployment. 

Background:

On September 24, 2023, at 4:52 a.m., the Richmond RCMP were called to the 8000-block of Anderson Road, after a report of a shooting. Members attended and located a 29-year old man, suffering from gun shot wounds. Despite the efforts of first responders, the victim succumbed to his injuries on scene. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken conduct of the investigation and is working closely in partnership with Richmond RCMP, BC Coroners Service and the Integrated Forensic Identification Section (IFIS). 

IHIT is now identifying the victim as Jackie Giang Giang Tran, of Richmond, in hopes of advancing its investigation.

Our members will be working with the Richmond RCMP over the next few days to canvass the area for witnesses and for CCTV, says Sergeant Timothy Pierotti of IHIT. We’re asking anyone with information about this incident to please contact IHIT immediately.

IHIT is asking anyone with information or anyone who was driving or parked on Anderson Road, Cooney Road, Eckersley Road and Park Road between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. with dash-camera video, to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
