Shooting in Surrey leads to IHIT deployment

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) have responded after a man was located deceased in Surrey. 

Background:

On July 9, 2023, at 5:07 p.m., the Surrey RCMP were called to the area of 96A Avenue and 130 Street, after a report of shooting. Members attended and located an unresponsive man inside a vehicle. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but the victim was pronounced deceased on scene. At 5:25 p.m., the Surrey RCMP received reports of a vehicle fire near 82A Avenue and 152A Street, in which a grey Subaru Forrester was located burnt. IHIT took conduct of the investigation and continue work closely in partnership with the Surrey RCMP, BC Coroners Service and the Integrated Forensic Identification Section (IFIS). 

Investigators are working with forensic experts from the Surrey RCMP to determine if the vehicle fire is connected to the homicide.

IHIT investigators are now identifying the victim as 29-year old, Pavanbar Paul Mannan, of Surrey, in hopes of furthering their investigation.

IHIT will be in both areas throughout the day speaking with neighbours and canvassing for video, says Sergeant Timothy Pierotti of IHIT. If you have information and have yet to speak to police regarding this investigation, please contact IHIT immediately. If you were in either area between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. and have dash-camera video, please contact IHIT immediately.
