File # 2022-1566

IHIT has deployed to a stabbing in a Surrey residence.

Background:

On December 7, 2017, at 9:22 p.m. the Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing in the 12700-block of 66 Avenue, Surrey. Officers attended and located a 40-year old female in medical distress, resulting from a life-threatening stab wound. Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, the woman succumbed to her injuries after being transported to a local hospital. A 40-year old man, known to the victim, was arrested at the scene and taken into police custody. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken conduct of the investigation and continue to work closely with the Surrey RCMP.

Investigators can confirm the victim and suspect were married and that this is an isolated incident. Neither the suspect or the victim were known to police. The name of the victim is not being released at this time, out of concern for the privacy of the family.
