Police seek assistance to identify suspect in smash and grab incident

Port Alberni RCMP are seeking the public's assistance to identify the suspect in a smash and grab incident that occurred in on February 27, 2025. 

On February 27, 2025 at approximately 2am, Port Alberni RCMP responded to a report of a Break and Enter in progress at Jim's Clothes Closet, 4716 Johnston Road. On arrival, police found the front glass display window broken with clothing items appearing to be missing.

Multiple police members responded as indications were that the suspect may have gained entry to the business. RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS) were called out to assist in locating the suspect who had since fled the scene. 

Extensive patrols were made however the suspect was not located. Port Alberni RCMP are seeking the public's help to identify the suspect from CCTV images.

 

The suspect is described as a male wearing:

"This was a senseless crime causing a local business to shoulder thousands of dollars in damages" - said Sgt. Chet Carroll
