Fort St John robbery suspect apprehended in Alberta

On August 13, 2024, at 6:01am, the Fort St John RCMP received a report of a robbery in progress at a hotel located at 8500 block of Alaska Rd North in Fort St John, BC.
A man had entered the hotel and threatened the front desk clerk with a large knife while demanding cash. The suspect grabbed a set of vehicle keys from the office just prior to leaving the building.
Fort St John RCMP frontline police officers attended immediately but while enroute were updated the suspect had departed the scene.
Upon attendance, frontline police officers determined the suspect had stolen the vehicle associated to the stolen vehicle keys and departing the area southbound on Highway 97.
Frontline police officers conducted patrols but were unable to locate the stolen vehicle.
At 4:00pm that same day, Fort St John RCMP received information that Fox Creek RCMP in Alberta had located the stolen vehicle and the suspect was in custody.
The suspect is being held in Alberta for court. Charges of Robbery and Breach of Probation are being forwarded for approval.
No one was injured in the incident.
The name of the suspect is not being released because charges have not yet been approved.
