Drive without insurance

On May 4, 2024 a caller reported a man wearing a black helmet was driving a yellow ATV on Main street in Lillooet. Lillooet RCMP were outside of Lillooet proper, subsequent patrols on return were unfruitful. Later in the day Lillooet RCMP members observed the yellow ATV being driven on Main street and conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle and the driver. The driver was informed an ATV could not be driven on public roadways, he claimed he did not know. In addition the ATV was not registered nor did he have a valid driver’s license. He had the ATV picked up by family and was issued a ticket for no insurance under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Impaired operation

On May 7, 2024 while driving on Hwy 1 a Lytton RCMP member came across a single vehicle motor vehicle incident. The driver was subsequently spoken to, he appeared confused and smelt of alcohol. The driver was read a suspicion demand to blow into an approved screening device (ASD). The driver subsequently produced a Fail result on the approved screening device (ASD) for alcohol above the legal limit in his system. He was immediately prohibited from driving for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded. The matter was referred to ICBC.

Uttering threats

On May 8, 2024 a caller in Lillooet reported her son had been threatened at the Lillooet Rec Centre. Her son was asked by a man if he liked creatine pills and he responded yes. The man then stated you are lucky you are a kid or I’d smash your face in. The matter was documented with no further action requested from the caller at the time.

Unsafe storage of Firearms

On May 8, 2024 Lillooet RCMP attended a residence in Lillooet to arrest a man for an assault charge for a domestic violence related incident. The man had 3 firearms in his home without a license, they were stored unsafely, and one firearm had a live round in the chamber. The matter is still under investigation with additional charges to be recommended.

Assault

On May 16, 2024 a caller in Lytton reported her mom was assaulted by her boyfriend earlier in the day. A Lytton RCMP member investigated the report and was informed the man was alleged to have punched the victim in the face causing her to lose her front teeth. The man was arrested for assault and released with a court date and conditions not to contact the victim. He advised he was leaving Lytton as well. The matter is still under investigation.

Checkstop

On May 18, 2024 in honour of National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day Lillooet RCMP members conducted a check stop at the intersection of Texas Creek road and Hwy 99. Approximately 55 vehicles were checked for valid insurance/driver licenses/and driver sobriety. No impaired drivers were located. An unlicensed driver was ticketed and served a court date for driving while prohibited contrary to the Motor Vehicle Act as per his driver status with ICBC.

Theft of vehicle

On May 20, 2024 a man reported his vehicle was stolen while he was fishing along Cayoosh Creek near Lillooet. He had left a spare key inside and parked it out of sight from his fishing spot, when he returned he found pieces of the window glass (broken) on the ground and the vehicle was gone. There were no witnesses or suspects. Lillooet RCMP member and Stl’atl’imx Tribal police member made patrols for the vehicle and it was eventually located/left abandoned on a dirt road near by. The owner was notified and retrieved the vehicle, he was thankful for it being recovered. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Lillooet RCMP, please reference Lillooet RCMP file 2024-994.
