Family dog bear sprayed by male suspect on Penticton trails
On April 3, 2024 at approximately 7:10pm, two female residents were walking their dogs on the Manson connector just south of Penticton St. when a male suspect bear sprayed one of the dogs in the face.
The dog was off leash but was reported to be right beside the owner and not acting aggressively. The male then threatened to spray both females before leaving southbound along the Manson connector.
The male is described as approximately 70 years old, 5’10’’, average build, short gray hair, clean shaven wearing blue jeans and a red plaid jacket and walking a black Boston terrier.
The investigation is ongoing.

Two suspects arrested for assaulting police
On April 2, 2024, Powell River RCMP responded to a disturbance in a guest room at a local hotel. The disturbance had been going on for some time and hotel staff requested that the guests be removed.
While police were speaking to the guests and telling them to leave, the guests became assaultive and bit and struck the officers. Both suspects were arrested, removed from the hotel and transported to the RCMP detachment. The suspects were released to appear in Provincial court.
