On February 29, 2024, Terrace RCMP received a report of an alleged assault on a child at Ecole Mountainview. The assault is alleged to have involved a male suspect and occurred in or near a wooded area adjacent to the school grounds during the noon hour break.

Ecole Mountainview Principal Steve Wallace stated that student safety at the school is their highest priority, and that staff work to maintain a safe environment with regular and ongoing supervision. Both the school and district are cooperating with the RCMP as they investigate the report and the nature of the assault.

At this time there are no suspects.

Police are asking the public for assistance if anyone has seen anyone suspicious in that area on or between February 26 through 29, to report it at 250-638-7400 or 1-80-222-TIPS.
