Intoxicated in public:

The Kitimat RCMP were called to a disturbance on the 900 block of Wakashan Ave on January 18th. Upon arrival, the investigating officers located an intoxicated subject. The suspect was arrested for causing a disturbance by being drunk in public and lodged into the Kitimat RCMP detachment cells until sober. They were then released without charge. (2024-234)

Fail to comply:

A traffic stop conducted on January 19th resulted with the registered owner receiving a violation ticket for failing to comply with an order. During the stop, it was found the vehicle had previously been stopped and the owner was ordered to have the vehicle inspected due to some safety concerns. This was not completed in the provided time, resulting in the violation ticket. The Vehicle was also immediately removed from the roadway via a tow truck. (2024-244)

Single vehicle collision:

During the morning commute in Highway 37, on January 20th, the Kitimat RCMP was advised of a single vehicle collision near Onion Lake. The responding officer located the vehicle and found it had gone off the roadway, into the ditch, causing extensive damages to the vehicle. Luckily the lone occupant was not injured. The driver was issued a violation ticket for diving without Due Care and attention. (2024-251)

Intoxicated in public:

During the afternoon of January 21st, the Kitimat RCMP received a call to check on two persons on the 200 block of City Centre. Upon arrival, the investigating officer located three males on scene. The officer was advised that there was concern about one of the male’s health, so EHS had already been called. The officer stayed on scene to ensure the well being of everyone and ensured they all got to where they needed safely. (2024-268)

Forcible confinement arrest:

On January 22nd, The Kitimat RCMP received a report of a victim having been assaulted in a local residence and not being able to leave. The investigating officers applied for and received a warrant to search the residence for evidence. A 40-year-old Kitimat resident was arrested and has been remanded in custody to answer to a list of charges including Forcible confinement, assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm. An arrest warrant has been issued for a co accused suspect. (2024-276)

Unauthorized use of bank card:

A report of a debit card being used in a fraudulent manner was reported to the Kitimat RCMP on January 24th. The victim had noted a sum of money, that was not authorized, had been used. The investigation into how the debt card information was received in a manner that it could be used for unauthorized purchases is still ongoing. (2024-289)
