Single vehicle motor vehicle collision in Trail, BC resulted in arrest.

Officers tracked down the two occupants, a 42-year-old Trail man and a 24-year-old Trail woman, only a short distance away from the scene. The officer’s investigation revealed that the man was believed to be travelling at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle prior to the crash. The officer also discovered that the man had allegedly assaulted and threatened the woman during the incident.

Officers arrested the man and held him in custody until he appeared before a Provincial Court Judge. He was released on several conditions and will make his next court appearance on January 4, 2023, in Provincial Court, in Rossland.

No room for discrimination in downtown Trail

File # 2023-5938

On December 15, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report about a 36-year-old Krestova woman who attempted to place a Straight Pride sticker inside a window of business in downtown Trail, BC. The building owner did not allow the woman to put up the sticker.

An officer contacted the woman about the incident as it was reported to the police as a hate crime. The officer informed her that while it did not mean the Criminal Code definition of a hate crime, local businesses and the community strongly supported the LGBTQ+ Pride movement. The woman was upset that her sticker was not allowed in the window of the business and believed that she had been discriminated against. The officer informed her that heterosexual white people are not a historically disenfranchised group, and that wasn’t possible to be discriminated against in this way as she claimed.

It is the job of heterosexual white people to tell other heterosexual white people when they are being racist, sexist, and discriminatory against minority groups, says Sgt. Wicentowich
