On Friday, October 13, 2023, at 1:14 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer was conducting a routine patrol in a marked police vehicle when he detained a 52-year-old Fruitvale man and his vehicle roadside in the 1900 block of Main Street, in Fruitvale, BC.

The officer discovered that the man was prohibited from driving and his vehicle was uninsured. The officer arrested the man and released him on a document to appear at a future court date. His vehicle was impounded for up to seven days. The man also received a $598 fine for Drive without insurance contrary to Section 24(3) of the British Columbia Motor vehicle Act.

Trail RCMP will forward one charge of Drive while prohibited contrary to Section 95(1) and 102(a) of the BC MVA to Crown Counsel.

Neighbour calls in wild horses

File 2023-4957

On Friday, October 13, 2023, at 3:51 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report from a concerned citizen that several horses [Wicentowich, Mike] were impeding traffic by standing on Highway 3B, near Warfield, BC. The officer was going to wrangle the horses; however, they had galloped away from the scene before he could.

The officer discovered that Warfield is not a one-horse town. Says Sgt. Wicentowich

Impaired driving

File # 2023-4978

On Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 9:44 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer was conducting a routine patrol in a marked police vehicle when he observed a vehicle with a broken taillight travelling eastbound on Schofield Highway, in Warfield, BC. The officer detained the 50-year-old Warfield man and his vehicle roadside.

While investigating the broken taillight, the officer made observations that lead him to believe the man’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. A demand was read to the man, who provided a sample of breath roadside that resulted in a warn.

The 50-year-old Warfield man was issued a 3-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) under Section 215 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act.
