Creston RCMP responded to 82 calls for service between August 1-8, 2023.
These are the highlights:
August 4, 2023
- Creston RCMP responded to a multi-vehicle collision in Grey Creek. The collision shut Highway 3A down for multiple hours. Investigators found that a vehicle had been driving in an aggressive manner and allegedly crossed the centre line, striking two other vehicles. The collision disabled all three vehicles. The driver of the speeding car was charged, and the vehicle was impounded under the Motor Vehicle Act for stunting. There were only minor injuries.
- An Officer located an impaired driver on Kootenay River Road. The driver was charged and the vehicle was impounded. The driver was unable to care for themselves and was arrested and lodged in cells until sober.
- A second impaired driver was located with the assistance of the BC Conservation Service. The vehicle was stopped on Devon Street and Highway 3. The driver was found to be intoxicated and was charged with impaired driving. The vehicle was impounded at the driver’s expense.
August 5, 2023
- Police responded to a break and enter in progress. Police located a man having a mental health episode. The man was taken to hospital to receive treatment for his mental health issues.
August 6, 2023
- A person reported that their camp chairs had been moved and possibly damaged in their yard.
August 7, 2023
- Police attended a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 21. A motorcycle was following another vehicle too closely and rear ended it. The motorcycle then went into oncoming traffic, hitting another vehicle. There were no serious injuries and the motorcycle rider was charged.
August 8, 2023
- Police removed a vehicle from the road that had no brake or tail lights. Creston RCMP reminds the public to keep their vehicle well maintained.
