The Campbell River RCMP are investigating an attempted murder as a result of an incident that took place at approximately 7:00pm on July 28, 2023 at a residence situated in the 900 block of Cedar Street in Campbell River.

During the incident a 21 year old man was stabbed multiple times by a 22 year old assailant who was known to him.

The suspect resisted police attempts to take him into custody. The resulting altercation ended with two officers being injured. Both officers were transported to Campbell River hospital with varying levels of non life threatening injuries.

The victim was taken to hospital and is expected to survive. The suspect was also taken to hospital and is receiving treatment.

Drugs are believed to be a factor in this event. Police do not believe there is any threat to the safety of the general public at this time.
