2023-3080 et al – Collisions

This week, police investigated a number of collisions that happened along the Sea to Sky Highway, some more serious in nature. One was near Porteau Cove when a driver went into the center highway concrete divider, resulting in his car being undriveable, and neither he or his passenger injured. A second involved a van and semi-truck colliding north of Alice Lake, and BC Ambulance took nine people to a local hospital for attention to non-life-threatening injuries.

A third happened near the Big Orange Bridge when a northbound driver veered then struck the center median before going into the southbound lanes and stopping. The driver received extensive injuries. BC Ambulance and Fire Rescue also assisted, and the driver taken to hospital for unknown injuries.

2023-3029 – Mischief to rainbow crosswalk

On June 1, 2023, police investigated a report of damage to the rainbow crosswalk at Victoria and Cleveland Ave., and do not have a timeline when this happened.  An unknown driver did a burnout, leaving black rubber marks on the crosswalk. The police investigation could not identify a driver and this file has been concluded.

2023-2992 – Break and enter

On May 28, 2023, at about 3:15 p.m., in the 38000 block of Queens Way, an unknown man used a screw driver to wedge open a locked front entrance of a business. The business’ alarm went off, scaring the man away, and he did not take anything. Police continue following up with this matter.

Online crime reporting (OCR)

Sea to Sky RCMP Squamish reminds people they can report non-emergency crimes online through (OCR). Currently, people can report the following crimes:

• Damage/mischief under $5000 to property
• Damage/mischief under $5000 to vehicle
• Theft of bicycle under $5000
• Theft under $500
• Lost property
• Lost or stolen licence plates
