2023-2467 – Assault with Weapon

On May 6, 2023, just before 10:00 p.m., in the 37800 block of Third Ave., a woman reported an assault to police after a man motioned with a knife to her. The assault happened after the man had a verbal exchange with some people outside the building and he unleashed his dog at one of them. Police continue following up with this investigation, and don’t believe public safety is at risk however, should anyone feel unsafe, police recommend reporting.

2023-2453 – Auto theft

On May 6, 2023, at about 12:30 p.m., police started an investigation after thieves stole a white Ford Transit van, BC license plate SR 0245, from the 38000 block of Progress Way. The words ‘Corporate Electric’ were written on the van. Inside the van were a lot of Milwaukee tools, some ladders, and a couple breakers. The gas light was on in the van, so it had about a 70 kilometer radius before thieves would either abandon the van or refuel. Police continue investigating.

2023-2362 – Collision

On May 2, 2023, at about 1:15 p.m., police received multiple reports about an erratic driver on Highway 99 just north of Lions Bay, the driver was driving slowly, swerving, and had almost crashed into oncoming traffic. When police arrived on scene, the driver had crashed into a tree, and other drivers, Lions Bay Fire Rescue, BC Ambulance, and Miller Capilano helped get the man out of his car. With assistance from medical practitioners who happened upon scene, the matter was deemed a medical condition that was subsequently treated.

2023-2418 et al - Impaired driving

On May 5, 2023, just before 2:00 a.m., police received a report about a car being stuck inside of a ditch on Highway 99 past Swift Creek, and the driver stumbling on the road and slurring his words. When police arrived, they saw further physical signs of impairment and had the driver provide breath samples that resulted ‘fail.’ As a result, police issued a 90-day driving prohibition and impounded the driver’s car for 30 days.
