Investigators are looking for witnesses and video following a Cobble Hill collision that resulted in the death of a Victoria woman.

On Sunday February 26, 2023 at approximately 7:00 a.m., a Shawnigan Lake RCMP officer was flagged down moments after a single vehicle collision near the intersection of Trans Canada Hwy and Fisher Rd, in Cobble Hill.

BC Ambulance and Fire rescue attended to the scene immediately and began performing first aid measures on the vehicles two occupants, tragically the passenger of the small blue sedan did not survive the injuries she sustained in the collision. The driver of the vehicle was transported to hospital for serious injuries.

Although still in the preliminary stages of the investigation, investigators believe that the blue Nissan was travelling northbound when the passenger side of the vehicle struck a left turn traffic signal, slid down the highway approximately 100 metres before striking a barrier and coming to rest against it.

The Trans-Canada Highway was closed for several hours while investigators conducted their investigation into what caused the collision states Sergeant Chris Manseau, media relations officer for the BC RCMP If anyone witnessed or captured dashcam footage of the scene and has not yet spoken with police, please contact investigators as soon as possible
