Kitimat RCMP weekly report November 17-23, 2022

Family dispute

November 17, 2022 at 7:04pm, Kitimat RCMP attended a local residence for a family dispute where one of the family members was upset and destroying property in the house. Police officers spoke to all parties and while no charges were supported, the family member who was upset found another safe residence to stay for the night.

Unwanted guest

November 18, 2022 at 1:18am, Kitimat RCMP received a report of an unwanted guest who showed up at a local residence and was banging on the door. The complainant knew the guest, however due to the time in the night, did not want them there and they would not leave on their own. Police attended and spoke to the unwanted guest, then transported them to another location.

Disturbance near hospital
November 20, 2022 at 2:33am, Kitimat RCMP received a report of a woman who had been discharged from Kitimat General Hospital and had started disturbing other patients and yelling. Police attended and located the woman who was transported back to her residence.

Motor vehicle incident

November 20, 2022 at 11:12am, Kitimat RCMP were notified of a single vehicle motor vehicle incident in which the driver stated they lost control due to the slush on the road. Police and emergency health services attended, however there were no injuries. Damage to the vehicle was minimal, however it had to be towed out of the ditch. No further police action was required. Kitimat RCMP would like to remind drivers to drive with caution due to varying weather and road conditions.

Impaired driver

November 22, 2022 at 1:11am, a police officer conducting random patrols observed a vehicle running near Hospital Beach. The officer performed a traffic stop, and while speaking to the driver noted a glass in the center console with two straws in it. The passenger stated the glass was a juice and alcohol mix but the driver denied consuming any alcohol. The officer screened the driver for intoxication by alcohol and the driver blew a WARN, declining a second test. The driver was issued a 3-day driving prohibition and the vehicle was also towed and impounded.

Insecure premises

November 23, 2022 at 9:02am, Kitimat RCMP was notified of an insecure residence. The residence was supposed to be unoccupied so no one should have been accessing it. Police attended and cleared the residence, confirming no one was inside that it was vacated and re-secured. No further police action was required.
