The Merritt RCMP want to thank the public for their assistance in helping locate wanted Merritt man, Mr. Ronald Karlson.

On November 23, 2022, at 0137 hours Merritt Front Line Officers were called to the area of Voght Street and Priest Avenue for a report of a suspicious person. Upon attendance officers witnessed a man kick in the back door of a house and rush inside. The occupants living there were evacuated by police and the South East District Emergency Response Team were called to assist. 

After a lengthy standoff with police, Mr. Karlson exited the house and was safely taken into custody.

"We want to thank the public for all the information they provided during our search for Mr. Karlson." Says Sgt. Josh Roda. "We are thankful no one was injured and this had a successful conclusion."

Mr. Karlson is being held in custody and has been charged by indictment for break and enter to commit mischief, forcible entry and obstruct a peace officer in relation to today's incident. Mr. Karlson is set to appear before the Courts today.
