On October 2, 2022, the Fort St. John RCMP investigated two suspicious, but separate, vehicle fires that occurred within 1 hour of each other.

The first vehicle fire occurred at 8:10 pm where a City of Fort St. John pickup truck had been deliberately lit on fire while it was parked at the Pomeroy Sports Centre located at 9708 93rd Ave.

The second vehicle fire occurred at 9:02 pm where the Overdose Prevention Van belonging to Northern Health had been deliberately lit on fire while it was parked in Northern Health’s parking lot behind 9830 100th Ave. Both vehicles suffered extensive damage.  There were no immediate suspects for either arson.

After an exhaustive investigation the Fort St. John RCMP Crime Reduction Unit was able to identify 27-year-old Dennis WYCZESANY, as the person responsible for the arsons.
