On Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 6:15 p.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers responded to a motor vehicle incident at the intersection of Stoney Creek Road and Highway 22, in Trail, BC.

A 18-year-old Castlegar man driving a 1991 Toyota Tacoma truck allegedly turned southbound onto Highway 22 from Stoney Creek Road and was struck by an oncoming northbound vehicle. Neither drivers appeared to have sustained injuries at the time of the collision. Both vehicles were towed from the scene of the incident.

A Trail RCMP officer issued the 18-year-old Castlegar man a $167 fine for Fail to Yield on Left Turn contrary to Section 174 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act.

Trail RCMP note that other stakeholders were notified about the increased traffic in the area and the potential risk for additional incidents.

Trail RCMP is asking the public to use extra caution at the intersection of Stoney Creek Road and Highway 22. Trail residents have reached out to us and others with their safety concerns. Trail RCMP will conduct addition patrols on Highway 22 in an effort to increase road safety in this area. – Sgt. Wicentowich

On Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 11:50 p.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers arrested a 19-year-old Trail man on an outstanding Warrant of Arrest in the 700 block of Victoria Street, in Trail, BC.

Trail RCMP officers searched the man, incidental to his arrest and allegedly located an imitation handgun. Officers then allegedly located second imitation handgun when searching the man’s backpack. The 19-year-old Trail man was held for a bail hearing and was later released by the courts.

Trail RCMP will forward criminal charges in relationship to the imitation handguns to Crown Counsel for review.

Trail and Greater District RCMP will continue to make community safety a priority whenever possible through patrols and enforcement. Additionally, we will work with other stakeholders on the underlying issues of most crime which include addiction, poverty, homelessness, and mental health – Sgt. Wicentowich
