Lillooet RCMP October 19 to October 25 2022, Calls for service: 47

Assault with weapon

On October 19 at 1:30pm, a complainant reported seeing a man yelling and swinging a knife in the Hop farm area of Lillooet. Police attended and located a man sitting on the tailgate of a truck, holding a knife that he was refusing to drop. The man stated he wanted to stab another man that was also on scene and known to each other. After some negotiations, police were able to talk the man into dropping the knife, and were able to arrest him without further incident. Police later learned that the man with the knife had told the other man that he wanted to stab him, and began walking after him while holding the knife and the other man was attempting to flee. The accused man was later released on conditions, and a court date to speak to the allegations.

Theft from motor vehicle

On October 20 at 1am a complainant reported seeing someone break into a truck that was parked in the 1200 block of Main St. Police attended but did not locate anyone in the area, and the complainant had no further information. Police located the truck, which showed no signs of damage, and the owner could not immediately be located. The next morning the owner of the truck confirmed tools were stolen from the truck. Theft

On October 20 at 8am, a man reported his new crossbow was stolen from his residence near Texas Creek Rd. The man suspected his sister was involved, as she still had access to his house and he owed her $20. The man had home video surveillance and was in the process of reviewing it. In the meantime, police located and spoke with the sister. She denied stealing her brother’s crossbow, and being at her brother’s residence at all over the previous few days. When the man returned home from work that day, he informed police that the crossbow had magically been returned and left outside his residence. Complainant requested no further police action.

Poaching

On October 21 at 1am, a man reported possible poachers seen on Hwy 12. The complainant reported seeing two men stop and shine flashlights into a field then took off. The man followed the suspicious vehicle and stated he observed antlers in the rear of the vehicle, and a silhouette of a rifle through the rear window. Police made patrols for the vehicle but were unable to locate it.

Theft

On October 25 at 9am, an employee at a local store reported that a man had taken a bottle of liquor, drank it, and was then unable to pay for it. The employee added that the man was refusing to leave the store. Police attended and arrested the man for theft, and breach of conditions. The man was transported to Lillooet cells to sober up, and was released once sober with a future court date to speak to the allegations.
