On October 3, 2022 at 1:55 p.m. Oceanside RCMP, BC Ambulance, and the Nanoose Bay Fire Department responded to a report of a semi tractor with trailer having gone off of the roadway, crashing into a residence in the 2900 block of the Island Hwy in Nanoose Bay.

The tractor itself was completely imbedded within the residence and leaking diesel fuel. It took several hours for rescue teams to extract the driver from the wreckage before he was transported to hospital by Air Ambulance. No one was home at the time and no other injuries were reported. The cause of the collision is still under investigation but initial indications are that a medical event may be a contributing factor.

Oceanside RCMP, Nanoose Bay Fire Department, and CVSE continue to investigate. Crews are still on scene awaiting the removal of the vehicle from the structure and there may be traffic delays to accomplish this.
