Kitimat RCMP weekly report September 24-29, 2022

Impaired driver

On September 24 2022 at 2:20am, Kitimat RCMP officer was conducting patrols in the area of Nalabila Blvd when they observed a vehicle fail to stop at the stop sign on Fulmar St. Police effected a traffic stop of the vehicle, observed a person exit the driver seat and walk around to the passenger side door. Police approached the person, observed that their eyes were very heavy looking and droopy. They admitted liquor consumption. Impaired operation investigation roadside, resulting in in a 90 day driving prohibition.

Accidental 911 call

On September 24 2022 at 6:30pm, Kitimat RCMP were dispatched to a report of a 911 call from a local restaurant. Police attended, spoke with a male who advised he inadvertently dialed 911 while trying to call his credit card company. Police spoke with staff who confirmed there was no emergency.

Intoxicated person

On September 25 2022 at 2:23am, Kitimat RCMP were dispatched to a disturbance at a local pub. A male was reported to be causing issues and ejected from the establishment. Police located that person, determined that they were extremely intoxicated and unable to care for self. They were arrested for being intoxicated in public and transported to cells to be released when safe to do so. No charges.

Chocolate bar selling

On September 25 2022 Kitimat RCMP received a report of a female going door to door selling store purchased chocolate bars (3 for $20) to raise money for a sick child. The complainant was suspicious so they asked further questions, the female then stated it was for a musical instrument for her daughter. Police attended the area however could not locate that female.

Open liquor

On September 26 2022 at 7:02pm, Kitimat RCMP officer was conducting patrols in the 100 block of Loganberry St. Police observed a vehicle with two occupants in the area. A sobriety check was conducted of the driver after observing open liquor in the vehicle. The driver provided one suitable sample of breath resulting in a Warn. The driver was advised they were prohibited from driving for 7 days and the vehicle was impounded.

Commercial alarm

On September 28 2022 at 5:12am, Kitimat RCMP received a report of a commercial alarm at a local restaurant. Police attended, conducted checks and determined the business was secure. Deemed false by attendance.

90 Day driving prohibition

On September 29 2022 at 12:35am, Kitimat RCMP officer was on patrol on Haisla Blvd, when they observed a vehicle drift between lanes without signaling. Police continued to observe the same driving behavior and effected a traffic stop shortly after. The driver exhibited signs of intoxication, police engaged in a roadside impaired operation investigation. The driver provided two suitable samples of breath for analysis both resulting in FAIL. The driver was advised they are prohibited from driving for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
