Alarm

On September 10 2022 at 1:55am Kitimat RCMP were dispatched to a report of a commercial alarm in the 1300 block of Alexander Ave. Police attended, found all but one door secure. Police cleared the building and did not observe any signs of break in. False by attendance.

Mischief to vehicle

On September 10 2022 at 3:30pm Kitimat RCMP received a report of mischief to a grey Chevrolet vehicle in the 400 block of Quatsino Blvd. Police attended, spoke with the complainant who reported that the damage to the vehicle, described as smashed back window, likely occurred sometime that day. Nothing was taken from the vehicle.

Check stop

On September 10 2022 at 8:20pm, Kitimat RCMP set up a road check stop on Hailsa Blvd and Forest Ave. The check stop lasted for approximately 2 hours and police estimate that 250 vehicles were checked, 6 violation tickets and one 3 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition was served.

Theft of bicycle

On September 11 2022 at 9:49am, Kitimat RCMP were dispatched to a report of a stolen bicycle in the 500 block of Columbia Ave. The complainant reported their bike was left outside their residence, described as metallic blue with mismatched tires. It was taken sometime during the day between 10:00am and 5:00pm on September 8 2022.

Traffic concern

On September 12 2022 at 1:25pm, Kitimat RCMP received a report regarding traffic issues in the Williscroft St area. The complainant was concerned about children running across the street as they might get struck by a moving vehicle. Police suggested that signs be posted Children Play Here to remind motoring public that children are in that area. Police agreed to conduct patrols in that area. Police would like to encourage all parents to remind their children to ensure its safe to cross
the street and for the motoring public to remain alert to pedestrians.

Bear aware

On September 15 2022 at 10:26pm, Kitimat RCMP received a report of a bear knocking over garbage cans in the Columbia Ave area. Police attended, conducted patrols however the bear was not located. Police remind the public to ensure that their yards/residences are free from attractants and to be aware when out where bears are known to habit.
