On July 24, 2022 at 7:40 P.M. emergency services were notified of a small plane crash near the Qualicum Beach Airport.

Oceanside RCMP, British Columbia Ambulance Service and Qualicum Beach Fire Rescue Department attended the area and located a Cessna 172 aircraft in a ditch near a tree line beyond the eastern perimeter of the airport.

The pilot, who was the lone occupant of the aircraft, was extricated and transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Transportation Safety Board, Town of Qualicum Beach and the BC Ministry of Environment were notified of the incident and the Transportation Safety Board has since assumed conduct of the crash investigation.
