Kitimat RCMP Weekly Report July 1-7, 2022

Knife fight

On July 1, 2022 at 2:10 am, Kitimat RCMP received a report of two female youths fighting and that one had a knife. Police attended and located both females already separated by others around. Police obtained statements from multiple witnesses and arrested one of the females who was later released to her guardians. File still in progress.

Impaired driver

On July 2, 2022 at 11:40 pm, a Kitimat RCMP officer conducting patrols observed a vehicle driving at a higher rate of speed and changing lanes repeatedly. The officer initiated a traffic stop and noted several signs of impairment and screened the driving using an approved screening device (ASD). The driver blew 2 Warn samples and the Officer seized their license, prohibiting them from driving for 3 days. The vehicle was also impounded.

Family matters

On July 3, 2022 at 9:31 pm, Kitimat RCMP received a request to check the wellbeing of a females brother. The female was worried about her brother being intoxicated and only knew he left a pub. Police were able to locate the man intoxicated and sleeping in the nearby area. The man was transported home and left to the care of his sister.

Abandoned 911/Medical call

On July 4, 2022 at 6:35 am, Kitimat RCMP was notified of an abandoned 911 call. Police attended and located a female who had fallen and was trying to call an ambulance and had hung up when it went to police. Police notified Emergency health services who brought the female to hospital.

Intoxicated and injured

On July 5, 2022 at 1:47 pm, Kitimat RCMP were asked to check the wellbeing of a male who had fallen down some stairs and hit his head. Police attended and noted the male was intoxicated and had a laceration on his head. Emergency health services was called and took the male to hospital.

Abandoned 911/Fire

On July 6, 2022 at 4:08 pm, Kitimat RCMP were dispatched to a dropped 911 call. The 911 operator was able to call back and make contact with a woman who said she had started a small fire on her stove by turning on the wrong burner, but it was already out. Police attended and obtained a statement from the woman after ensuring she and the others were okay. Fire fighters attended and assisted the woman with airing the smoke out the residence.

Pub disturbance

July 7, 2022 at 5:27 pm, Kitimat RCMP received a report of an intoxicated female who was causing a disturbance at a local pub and refusing to leave. Police attended and located the female who was very verbally aggressive toward police. The female was arrested for causing a disturbance and was transported to Kitimat RCMP cells where she stayed until she was able to care for herself.
