On Tuesday, June 14, 2022, Paul Habsburg, 56 years old, a member of the Stellat'en First Nation, was arrested and charged for multiple sexual offences, reported to have occurred between 1984 and 2000 in the Fraser Lake area against numerous victims.

This matter is being investigated by the North District General Investigations Section, who believe that there may be other victims or witnesses that have not yet spoken to the police. These individuals are encouraged to come forward with their information.

Sexual assault can cause long term, lasting trauma to survivors making it difficult to come forward to police, said S/Sgt Sascha Baldinger, Unit Commander North District GIS.

If you are a victim of Paul HABSBURG, or have information pertaining to this historical investigation, please contact the Fraser Lake RCMP at 250-669-7777.

If you are not ready to report and wish to seek support services, please contact VictimLinkBC which is a toll-free, confidential, multilingual service available across B.C. and the Yukon 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be accessed by calling or texting 1-800-563-0808 or sending an email to VictimLinkBC@bc211.ca

As this matter is now before the courts, no further information will be released publicly at this time.
