Suspects using stolen pickups for business break and enters

Suspects have used stolen pickup trucks to commit two recent overnight business break and enters in Errington.

At approximately 4:40 A.M. on May 30, 2022 Oceanside RCMP responded to a business alarm in the 1400 block of Alberni Highway in Errington. Officers arrived to find the business front doors had been pried open and large amounts of liquor was stolen.

At approximately 03:30 A.M. on June 8, 2022 Oceanside RCMP responded to a business alarm in the same area of Alberni Highway in Errington. Officers arrived to find the business front doors had been pried open and that cash had been stolen.

Surveillance video was reviewed in both break and enters and investigators determined that stolen pickup trucks were used by the suspects in both offences.

The pickup truck in the first break and enter was recovered later the same morning on Price Road in Errington.

The pickup truck in the second break and enter has not yet been located and is a 2004 Ford F-350 stolen in Lantzville between June 6 and 7, 2022. The pickup truck has homemade white mud flaps, no front license plate and no rear tailgate. The rear license plate is AE 4299.  A photo of the pickup truck from the break and enter video surveillance is posted below.

Oceanside RCMP are asking anyone who has information about these break and enters, such as dash cam video, or sees the stolen pickup truck to contact the Detachment at (250) 248-6111, says Sergeant Shane Worth. Also, if you are someone who is regularly out and about in the overnight and early morning hours and see something or someone suspicious, please call us so we can check it out.

Update:  The stolen pickup truck from the second break and enter was recovered the morning of June 8, 2022 on Price Road in Errington.
