File # 2024-1989

On September 7, 2024 at 10:16 pm Lillooet RCMP were asked to conduct a check on an unclothed man along Lillooet Pioneer Road 40 by Carpenter Lake. While en-route police were updated the man was given a ride by a passer by to a near by resort lodge and had disclosed he was in a single vehicle collision where the vehicle, a black Dodge Ram pickup, went into Carpenter Lake. The second occupant was still believed to be inside the vehicle.

Lillooet RCMP, BC Ambulance Service, and Lillooet Road Rescue made extensive patrols for the vehicle late into the night. Eventually a small debris field was located with no signs of the vehicle at all.

The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team attended the following day and conducted a water dive in the area and located the vehicle submerged in the lake with the sole occupant inside deceased. The family of the deceased were notified. The vehicle was recovered and towed out of the lake.

The incident is still under investigation.
