File # 2023-64018

On October 26, 2023, at 11:08 a.m., the Kelowna RCMP received a report from the owner of a 1999 blue Ford Explorer stating their vehicle had been broken into while parked at 140 Asher Rd, Kelowna, sometime overnight. A black suitcase with pink/purple polka dots, containing mostly summer clothing, and a gold/red spray-painted tool box with miscellaneous hand tools were stolen in this incident.

When officers contacted the complainant, she mentioned an urn containing her mother's ashes was also stolen. The urn is described as porcelain with flowers on it, slightly burnt from being in a fire, and has a written message on the side of the urn from the family.

"Most of what was stolen can be replaced, but returning the victim's deceased mother's ashes is our primary focus for our investigators," said Cst. Mike Della-Paolera, Media Relations Officer with the Kelowna RCMP.

At this time, there are no suspects or witnesses. The RCMP is asking for assistance from anyone who witnessed anything suspicious or has dash camera recordings from that night. Please contact the RCMP at (250) 762-3300 and reference file number 2023-64018.

If you have information and wish to remain anonymous, please contact Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or leave a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net."
