File # 2023-2622

On Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at about 9:17 a.m. the Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter to a townhouse along the 1400 block of Alta Lake Road.

Members attended and learned that the male suspect wore a high-visibility vest, and left in a white vehicle. Members made extensive patrols, but did not locate the male.

At about 1:10 p.m., Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP received a report of a suspicious looking male in the vicinity of a white vehicle in the Creekside area. The description of the male was similar to the description of the suspect in the break and enter. Members attended at the location and seized the vehicle for further investigation.

At about 3:50 p.m., Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP received a report of a male trying to hop a fence in the area of Lakeside Road. Members found the man and arrested him for break and enter.

Charges were later approved against Fabian Jackson Daley for one count of break and enter to a dwelling house, and two counts of possession of stolen property under $5000. Daley was also wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Surrey, BC., and he remains in custody until his next court appearance on June 15, 2023.

This is an excellent example of how information provided by the public assists us in conducting our investigations said Constable Katrina Boehmer, Media Relations Officer for Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP. The reports received of the suspicious male and suspicious vehicle enabled the investigating officers to locate and arrest the suspect, and to seize evidence.

Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP’s investigation is ongoing and investigators are attempting to identify the owners of property that was located during this investigation which is believed to be stolen. Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP is asking anyone who may have been a victim of a theft between approximately June 5 to 6, 2023, to contact the detachment at (604) 932-3044.

Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP is also asking the public to be cognizant of any individuals that may appear out of place in residential areas. We have seen, in the past, individuals posing as workers wearing high-visibility vests who hope to blend into the environment, but who are actually looking to commit offences such as break, enter and theft, said Constable Katrina Boehmer. We want to make sure that Whistler isn’t the place where these individuals come to conduct their business, and we can all work together to make that happen.

Anyone with any information regarding the above files are asked to contact the Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP at 604-932-3044, or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or go to the website www.solvecrime.ca
