On Thursday, October 20, 2022 shortly after midnight, Williams Lake RCMP responded to a collision on Highway 97 in 141 Mile.

When emergency services arrived on scene they found a Hyundai Accent and a tractor-trailer unit had collided head on. Following the collision, the semi caught on fire but thankfully, the two occupants were able to escape the burning cab uninjured.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 64 year old woman from Lac Le Hache, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

While this investigation is ongoing, police do not believe there to be a criminal element into the cause of the crash, said S/Sgt Del Byron, Operations NCO Williams Lake RCMP.

Anyone with information about this is asked to contact the Williams Lake RCMP at (250) 392-6211.
