Police looking for suspect involved in hit and run of cyclist

On May 9, 2024, West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a cyclist who had been struck by a vehicle while riding in the roundabout near on Watkiss Way near Helmcken Rd in View Royal.

The incident took place at approximately 12:30 am. Police learned a Red Jeep Wrangler struck the cyclist in the roundabout on Watkiss Way (near Victoria General Hospital), and failed to remain on scene. The cyclist suffered serious non-life-threatening injuries and attended the hospital to receive care.

Suspect description:

West Shore RCMP are investigating this incident and are asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed this crime to please come forward and speak to police. Additionally, if you were driving in the area at the time and have dash camera footage, please check your footage for the time period of May 9, 12:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m., as you may have captured the suspect vehicle. If you know who this suspect could be, or have information regarding this crime, please call the West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264.
