Police arrest stabbing suspect

On July 18 at approximately 2:40 p.m., West Shore RCMP responded a report of a stabbing that had taken place on Helmcken Rd in View Royal.
Frontline officers immediately attended the area. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Given the proximity to Saanich, Saanich Police Department also responded to the report and located the suspect.
The suspect, who is identified as a 29-year-old male resident of Saanich was arrested for Assault With a Weapon and is currently being held in custody by West Shore RCMP to be brought before the courts today.
The victim and suspect do not appear to have a relationship and the violence appears to be unprovoked. Police are continuing their investigation and do not believe there is a risk to the public as the suspect is currently in custody,
