West Shore RCMP Crime Reduction Unit has arrested two suspects in relation to a string of break-ins in the West Shore.

Between February 1 and March 5, at least five break and enters were committed in which suspects targeted storage lockers and vehicles in secure underground parking garages. The break-ins took place overnight and suspects stole a variety of maintenance equipment, power tools and in one instance several firearms. Some of the locations were repeatedly targeted and broken into. Of these break-ins, 2 occurred in View Royal at at the same apartment building, and 3 occurred in Langford at 2 separate apartment buildings.

Crime Reduction Unit investigators were able to identify the suspects and obtained search warrants for two separate properties, one in View Royal and the other in Langford. As a result, many of the stolen items including several firearms and power tools were found and seized by police.

Two male suspects age 25 and 34 years old, were arrested in late March for a variety of offences including, multiple counts of Break and Enter, Possession of Break and Enter Instruments, Disguise with Intent and Possession of Stolen Property. Both suspects were release on strict conditions to not have any contact with each other, abide by a curfew and are prohibited from possessing firearms.

This is another example of the exceptional work being done by the officers in the Crime Reduction Unit. Our unit pieced together several reports of break and enter and theft of property and arrested the suspects responsible, said Cpl. Danny Grieve, West Shore RCMP Crime Reduction Unit.
