On April 16th, 2024 at approximately 3:30am, Sunshine Coast RCMP responded to an alarm from the Canadian Tire located at 4380 Sunshine Coast Highway in Wilson Creek.

RCMP arrived on scene within minutes, observed a broken window and a male who fled out of the store from police.  After a foot chase around the building and across the highway, police were able to apprehend the 24 year old suspect who is known to police.

Lukas Kenworthy (aka Luke Carter) is currently in custody and is facing charges of break and enter, obstruct police and assaulting a police officer.  A stolen grey Kia Sedona was located on scene and it is believed to be related to the offence.

Sunshine Coast RCMP are asking the public for any surveillance video and/or witnesses who may have seen anyone walking in the area of the Canadian Tire, Field Road and Cameo Road between midnight and 3:30 am when the vehicle was stolen.  If you have any information please call the RCMP at 604-885-2266.
