Counterfeit money surfaced on the Sunshine Coast

The Sunshine Coast RCMP would like the public and retailers to be aware that there have been two reports of counterfeit US and Canadian $100 bills being used to obtain services and/or retail products in Gibsons.  

On July 28th and on August 1st, at two separate retailers in Gibsons, the counterfeit bills were discovered.

Modern Canadian bills are made from polymer not paper, they have even edge cuts, have holograms of the Prime Minister and Parliament clock tower embedded in the clear polymer and the edges around maple leaf are transparent
