Impaired

On October 15, police responded to a vehicle unable to maintain in the lane in the 300 block of Pratt Rd, Gibsons. Police gave a roadside alcohol screening test. After two failed results, the driver was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for thirty days. This matter has been referred to RoadSafetyBC.

Fraud

On October 12, a coast resident reported falling victim to a scam after giving two $100 Apple gift cards to what they later learned was their friends hacked email. The victim was asked via email to help their sick cousin. After being asked to send more gift cards the victim became suspicious and confirmed the email was hacked. To learn more about the red flags to watch for, and how to protect yourself from falling victim to the most popular scams, please educate yourself by going to websites such as the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre atwww.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca, the Better Business Bureau at www.bbb.org, or the Competition Bureau at www.competitionbureau.gc.ca where you may obtain a copy of the very helpful Little Black Book of Scams.

Mischief

On October 14, a suspect broke a vehicle window in the 5000 block of Inlet Ave, Sechelt. The suspect stole a skateboard that was in the backseat before leaving the scene. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the RCMP and reference police file #2022-7002.

Shoplifting 

On October 13, a shoplifter was caught by a loss prevention officer from a business in the 5500 block of Sunshine Coast Hwy, Sechelt. The shoplifter was located by police with the items and the individual was banned.
