Maple Ridge, B.C. – Ridge Meadows RCMP is seeking witnesses after a single vehicle collision resulted in serious injuries on Saturday night.

On January 13, 2024, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Ridge Meadows RCMP were notified by Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) members on patrol of a motor vehicle incident at the 22600 block of Dewdney Trunk Road in Maple Ridge. Ridge Meadows RCMP frontline officers arrived at scene and observed a silver Honda Civic that had collided with a utility pole. Police determined that the vehicle was traveling eastbound before going off road and crashing into the utility pole.

The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries while the passenger sustained severe injuries; both were transported to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services (BC EHS). Impairment is believed to be a contributing factor at this time.

Ridge Meadows RCMP Investigational Support Team (IST) and Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) also attended the scene. Dewdney Trunk Road was closed between Edge Street and 227 Street for several hours after the collision.

This is currently an active and ongoing investigation and no further information is available at this time.

Ridge Meadows RCMP is still seeking witnesses, specifically those who may have left the scene of the collision before speaking to police. Police are also seeking dash camera footage and/or video surveillance from the area. If you have any information, please contact the Ridge Meadows RCMP directly at 604-463-6251.

If you were a witness at this scene and have been affected in any way, please do not hesitate to contact the Ridge Meadows RCMP Victim Services program at 604-467-7650.
