Man receives six-month jail sentence after RCMP investigation

A Vancouver man has received a six-month jail sentence following a successful investigation by North Vancouver RCMP.

Between March and June of 2023, North Vancouver RCMP responded to multiple reports of Break and Enters and theft from neighborhoods across North Vancouver. On March 6th, 2023, North Vancouver RCMP responded to reports of a Break and Enter to an underground parking lot of a residential building. Several vehicles were broken into. A suspect was identified through CCTV that was obtained from the building.

On May 2nd, 2023, police responded to a report of a break and enter in progress to a business in Edgemont Village. Police quickly arrived and arrested a suspect nearby matching the description with several iPads stolen from the business.

On June 19th, 2023, police also responded to a suspicious male in the parking lot of a dealership on Marine Drive in North Vancouver. Police quickly responded and located several vehicles broken into. A suspect was arrested nearby for theft in relation to the broken into vehicles.

Front line officers worked diligently to gather evidence and submitted a report to the BC Prosecution Service recommending charges of two counts of Break and Enter and one count of Theft under $5,000.

On April 18th, 2024, Cole Lambert from Vancouver was found guilty and was sentenced to six-months in jail and was given credit for 69 days of pre-sentence time in custody.

We hope this sort of outcome sends a message to criminals that police do not tolerate anyone who victimize businesses and destroy property, said Cst. Mansoor Sahak of the North Vancouver RCMP.
