Investigation into racially motivated incident

North Vancouver RCMP are investigating after a racially motivated incident was reported on August 29th, 2022.

On the evening of August 26th, 2022, the owner of a local business, located in the 3000 block of Edgemont Boulevard North Vancouver, BC was assaulted by a woman. During the assault racial slurs were directed toward the business owner. A video of the incident was obtained and shared online by users.

North Vancouver RCMP have initiated an investigation into this matter. Hate crimes and hate motivated criminal activity have no place in our community and our officers are working diligently to identify this suspect, said Cst. Mansoor Sahak, North Vancouver RCMP Media Relations Officer.

This incident is being investigated as a possible hate-motivated crime. Hate-motivated crimes, as opposed to incidents are criminal offences committed against a person, an organization or property that are motivated by hate, prejudice or bias against an identifiable group. Hate crimes should be reported to police.

Investigation has determined that this incident occurred on August 26th between the hours of 7:30-8:00 pm and was perpetrated by a woman described as Caucasian, 5’6 feet tall, with brown and red shoulder length hair, wearing a turquoise rain jacket, dark blue pants and a light blue blouse.
