From Nov. 2 to 5, the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit- British Columbia (CFSEU) Uniform Gang Enforcement Team (UGET) travelled to Kamloops to assist local officers with targeting those involved in drug trafficking and violent activities.

The joint initiative was a result of our local detachment’s request to have the specialized team attend Kamloops and assist our Crime Reduction Unit in targeting known offenders, particularly those attached to drug trafficking, said Superintendent Jeff Pelley, Kamloops RCMP Detachment Officer in Charge. By using intelligence-based policing practices, officers were able to identify offenders and extend efforts to suppress and disrupt the criminal activities of those involved in drug dealing and localized violence.

More than a dozen files were proactively generated as a result of the short-term project, which included six arrests; the seizure of knives, a hatchet, handgun, cash, drugs, and contraband cigarettes. Those arrested were released, pending further investigation.

Anyone with information related to drug trafficking activities in Kamloops is encouraged to call local police, he added.

Information provided by the public and obtained by police in their day-to-day operations is instrumental in developing the intel that supports these initiatives and advances our goals of reducing criminal activity locally, said Supt. Pelley.

Those who witness suspicious occurrences or have information which may assist in police investigations, can contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000.
