File # 2023-27542

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is asking anyone who may have been a witness to a shooting on the North Shore Monday evening to call police.

Just before 5:30 p.m. on Monday July 31, frontline Kamloops RCMP officers were called to Schubert Drive near Richmond Ave to assist BC Emergency Health Services.

When officers arrived they located a woman, a 40-year-old from Kamloops, suffering what appeared to be gun shot injuries. She was taken to hospital and remains in serious condition.

Kamloops RCMP officers with assistance from police dog services flooded the area in an effort to locate the suspect, who was described as a Caucasian man, with a shaved head, wearing black shorts, and a white tank top.

At this point we believe the victim and assailant were known to each other and this appears to have been a targeted shooting, states Superintendent Jeff Pelley, Officer in Charge of the Kamloops RCMP.
The area of Schubert Drive and Richmond Ave remains closed this afternoon, as officers continue to canvass the area for witnesses, video surveillance and evidence. The scene is expected to be released later this evening.

We are asking anyone who may have been in the area of Schubert Drive and Richmond Ave between 4:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. on Monday July 31, 2023 and has information to call us. This includes anyone who may have been walking through the trail system, on the beach or traveling or resides on the roadway, and may have surveillance video, Superintendent Pelley continues.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2023-27542.
