The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is investigating a stabbing that occurred on the North Shore Wednesday afternoon.

Just after 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday August 2, 2023, frontline Kamloops RCMP officers were called to the corner of 8th Street and Brentwood Avenue for a report of a possible stabbing.

When police arrived, they found a 37-year-old Kamloops man being tended to by a witness. The man was taken to hospital with what are believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses have described an Indigenous man who is approximately 5’9 tall, with short buzz cut hair wearing cargo pants, black boots and no shirt fleeing the scene, states Staff Sergeant Janelle Shoihet of the Kamloops RCMP.

The man was last seen heading toward the grocery store gas bar, prior to disappearing down the alley in the Fortune Shopping Center. At the time of the attack the suspect may have been wearing a green zip-up hoodie.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2023-27781.
