Hundreds of grams in suspected illegal drugs were taken off the streets following a Saturday afternoon traffic stop in Kamloops.

On June 24, 2023, around 4 p.m., a Kamloops RCMP frontline officer was patrolling the North Shore when he observed a vehicle fail to stop before turning onto Lethbridge Avenue. The officer conducted a traffic stop and as part of the investigation, arrested the vehicle’s two occupants for drug possession and trafficking.

Approximately three quarters of a kilo of suspected illegal drugs were seized as a result, including cocaine, meth, and opioids, in additional to paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking, and more than $6,000 in cash, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

Both suspects were released, pending the investigation’s conclusion.
