Update: new suspect photo in youth assault investigation

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is releasing another suspect image from an April assault investigation in an effort to obtain a more secure identification.

Just before 6 p.m. on Tuesday April 4, 2023 frontline officers received a report that a 14-year-old boy had been assaulted at the McArthur Island skate park, by an adult man. On April 8, 2023, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment issued a media release requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect.

Police are hopeful that by releasing the additional, clearer image obtained following the initial appeal, officers will be able to gather more information to help them secure a suspect ID and further the investigation, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian man with a reddish beard, approximately 35 years old, who was wearing black pants, dark running shoes, a black hat, an orange hoodie and a grey hoody with a graphic blue t-shirt. The new image is of the same suspect with his hat and shirts off.
