Coquitlam RCMP continue to search for one of the suspect vehicles in a serious hit and run that has kept one pedestrian in hospital.

While on patrol on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 9:45 p.m., Coquitlam RCMP officers located a lone female pedestrian suffering from serious injuries being tended to by a good Samaritan. The pedestrian was crossing Guildford Way in the crosswalk under the sky-train track, when she was struck by a white 4-door Hyundai that made a left-hand turn from Pinetree Way onto Guildford Way, in Coquitlam.

See previous news release from January 28, 2024 for more information.

Following the previous media release, police located and spoke with the driver of the red 4-door SUV. The driver is cooperating with the investigation.

Police are still seeking the public’s assistance in locating the suspect driver of the white 4-door Hyundai which could have front end and/or driver’s side damage.

The 25-year old victim remains in hospital.

We are asking the driver of the white 4-door Hyundai to do the right thing, come forward and contact our investigators, said Media Relations Officer, Corporal Alexa Hodgins. We also believe that there was another pedestrian waiting at the crosswalk who may have witnessed the collision and are asking that individual to come forward to speak with our officers.

Police are asking anyone who may have observed the collision with the 4-door Hyundai which occurred on Saturday, January 27, 2024 shortly before 9:45 p.m. to contact the Coquitlam RCMP. Police are also seeking video footage including surveillance, dash cam or cell-phone video around the intersection of Pinetree Way and Guildford Drive between 9:15 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.

Following the collision, Coast Mountain bus 188 and 160 and a white Tesla are seen on video passing the collision scene, added Corporal Alexa Hodgins. We are appealing to any passenger of these buses or the driver of a white tesla to contact our investigators to provide further information.

Anyone who has any information, witnessed this incident or may have video footage is asked to contact the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and quote file number 2024-2286.
