Two charges approved in 2021 hit and run

On July 28th, 2021, at about 8:20 p.m., a motorcyclist was struck by a GMC van, at the intersection of Westminster Avenue and Oxford Street, Port Coquitlam. The driver of the van immediately fled the scene. The motorcyclist involved in the collision was transported to hospital with injuries.

Coquitlam RCMP released photos of the suspect van to the media, which led to multiple tips being received from the public. This investigation is an excellent example of the community stepping up and doing the right thing. The public support we received during this investigation was crucial in identifying the suspect. says Corporal Paige Kuz, Media Relations Officer with Coquitlam RCMP.

On April 20th, 2022, William Douglas Weisner of Port Moody was charged with failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in bodily harm and operating a conveyance in a manner dangerous to the public.

This matter is currently before the courts.
